What does everyone else think?.

I know the server had been up for 3 days, but coming from a server driven work background and

yes last night, the server did crash once or twice - unfortunately this is due to the game and not a fault of the server or network.

 - How many other hame servers have the option "restart server in event of crash"!

I've not had a any lag problems, usually in the 30's ping wise which is acceptable for BT.

The server is due for a reboot which might help

We are on 512k DSL here - certainly when I was connecting to it on my own (with DSL settings on ) it was fine - when multiple people are connecting to it form our line it does tend to slow things down ( and keeping our lodger off kaaza ! )

that sounds like the problem then.

I found that when i was sharing my DSL connection with Zoe (playing MOHA) goofed the pings & connection.

How is your DSL shared?

I'll see how it is tonight, I've got my shuttle with me in at work on a 2mb line, I'll see how it goes on my development environment.

DSL shared through a smoothwall box. We had a combination of possible factors so hopefully we can test it better tonight. Last night we ran at about 150 which is playable but there were still quite a few lag-kill moments. Moby, TiG and I will see!

Likewise - my average ping via Blueyonder (on a 1Mb line) has been 14 - very nice indeed.

I should also mention my connection is shared between 6 machines including a web/ftp/irc server running 24/7 and two machines connected via 802.11b wireless.

Cheers

yep , I@ve checked out router (smoothwall) and its working just fine - as the pings TiG did form our network show , the conneciton to pipex is just peachy.

It all starts to go wrong around hop 9 though.

this isnt a fluke result , I've checked it from every box on our network and cleared the routers cache.

can someon who is not on pipex repeat the testes to the same two servers to find some discrepancy.

We've connected to other servers with 3 clients at once and had a playable connection.

I'm getting similar results at work, sadly I don't feel compromising systems here by posting a tracert from my PC.

not as obvious as the results last night, but i'm getting several 100ms+ delays on route around the same areas..
