The LANSE losing it's venue!
« on: February 13, 2006, 05:54:19 PM »
As of the now - LANSE has lost its venue.

 :!:
Physical Company need the redundant office space for storage.

 :!:

*sigh*

It's not all doom & gloom however; we can still use the "studio" area for the LAN and the upstairs hall & small room for sleeping.

Unfortunately this presents me with a couple of problems.

1. I need to find some cheap floor covering for the wooden floor.

2. I need to setup & break down all the tables before & after every event.

Possible solutions:

1. try and find some cheap flooring from:
Melvile - suppliers of convention flooring
Lino - should be cheap ish, not sure how it'll work with chairs.

2. This is difficult. Setting up & breaking down the tables is got to be 2 hours work for two people each time - I really need some help.

I'd like to know if anyone is willing to regularly help with the setup or breakdown of the tables on Thursday (prior to LAN) and Sunday (after the LAN). If you are helping, we can come to some arrangement towards paying for the LAN it's self.

The loss of sleeping area is a bit of a pain - But I'm sure we'll cope.

I'll keep you posted when I know more.

I know what to do...

Sell more than you buy, or at last as much.

JIT is a bit hard when you have to order 2 x 40ft containers from china to get a cost effective price.

Also, one of our suppliers have lost their distributorship - so we are hopefully taking it over (another 1x 40ft container of weights on it's way).

And, John Lewis have just thrown out all the Reebok stuff from their stores - so there is loads of cheap reebok kit up for grabs - yet more space.

What about getting intouch with the council about possible sponsership and help with a venue?
In their eyes it might be good as it could be seen as helping "kids" stay out of trouble, and offer more for people to do? Might make it bit bigger and more well known in the local area :)
