BF2 1.12 out
« on: November 23, 2005, 01:41:23 PM »
clicky

client patch

Win32 Dedicated

BUG FIXES

    * Fixed a crash when users switch weapons using the mouse wheel while piloting a bomber (SU-34, F-15 and J10) in core BF2 maps.
    * Removed the Grappling Hook and the Zip Line from kits from "The Iron Gator" map.
    * Fixed single player loading screens to match map selection image.
    * Fixed an issue in the menus so that users can click on BF2:SF ribbons to view the descriptions.
    * Fixed an issue in the Browser so that BF2:SF servers are now represented with a green "2" icon.
    * Global improvement of collision detection on the Grappling Hook and the Zip Line.
    * Fixed damage state artillery icon on the 3d map when an artillery is destroyed.

CHANGE of VIDEO SPECS

    * GeForce FX 5900 family:
          o GeForce FX 5900 Ultra
          o GeForce FX 5900
          o GeForce FX 5900XT
          o GeForce FX 5950 Ultra
          o GeForce FX 5900ZT
          o GeForce PCX 5900
    * For these cards, the default video settings have been changed to LOW.

UPDATE TO GRAPPLING HOOK AND ZIP LINE DESCRIPTION

GRAPPLING HOOK

    * The GRAPPLING HOOK is part of the Assault and Anti-tank kits. Throw it using the fire or alternate fire buttons. Press "E" to get on and off of the rope.
    * Use the direction keys to climb the rope. The rope will connect to any static object in the world, which means it will not work on terrain or vehicles. Any Assault or Anti-Tank kit can pick up any grappling hook, even those from other teams, as long as you do not already have one in your kit at the time.

ZIP LINE

    * The ZIP LINE is part of the Special Forces and Sniper kits. Use the fire button to shoot the line and use the alternate fire button to check if the target is a viable connection point or not. Once the line is in place, use "E" to get on. You will slide down the line automatically. Any Spec-Ops or Sniper kit can pick up any zip line, even those from the other team, as long as you do not already have one in your kit at the time.

To get zip lines/grappling hooks you require the BF2 special forces pack, which was released last week in the US, but not over here till friday.

Zip lines only work between solid objects not terrain or moving objects, so basically just between buildings.

Basically the patch just allows people with special forces to play on vanilla BF2 servers.

They can use their tier 2 unlocks on normal servers, but this does not include grappling hooks, ziplines or tear gas.  It is just includes flashbangs for people using the tier 2 assault unlock.  So in theory it should not make much of a difference to normal BF2 players.

not really...

bf2 : sf is an expansion pack. to play it you still need bf2. so anyone with bf2 : sf must have bf2 already... in which case they can join bf2 server anyway.

there is a second level on weapon unlocks now... afaik to get the 2nd assualt unlock you must already have the first assault unlock etc. how these 2nd tier unlocks are flaged in another matter... wil it be rank ? hope not as i wont get many more of them as the differnt (in scores) is increasing alot.

the bf2 servers (multiplay ranked servers) have been running 1.12 for the last week or so. this means bf2 without the 1.12 patch can still join the server... this patch atm is purly for those who get bf2 : sf.

however the next patch will require 1.12 to be present so you might as well apply it.

at tatkai with have switched our server to play bf2 : sf as it is switchable from between bf2 and bf2 : sf.

i agree that the new weapons unlcoks will, or should, be available in bf2. and you can cycle through them once the patch is applied. however i dont agree the tear gas and flashbangs wil be available. hope i am wrong as it would be interesting.

It is by rank, but it takes into consideration your rank at present.  So at gunnery sergant (8000 points) you get 3 special forces unlocks.

I have seen pictures of flashbangs used on karkland.  I have not had chance to play since the new patch yet so can't prove anything personally.  You can also pick up the SF weapons if you kill somebody using them.

have I got this right:

SF & NON-SF players can play on the same server.

There are dedicated SF servers which only SF players can play on.

If SF & NON-SF players are on the same server, the SF guys get the funky weapons, the NON-SF players don't unless they kill an SF guy?

that quite cool...

thats actually a very good twist on expansion packs.

i am waiting for the next expansion pack then

"bf2 : nuke boy" - weapon unlock = mobile nuke :)

just to clarify the unlocks
if i have 3 unlocks in bf2 then i get 3 unlocks in bf2 : sf ?
but the only unlocks i can select in bf2 : sf are the unlocks i already have in bf2 ?

damn i should just install the expanion pack sitting on my desk :)

doh !

I think it works that way.
I am not going to purchase this expansion, due to my shiny new Xbox I am collecting next friday.
