If Sencerd is OK with the size of Blade's PC - which is pretty much complete, the way I suggest we go forward is that all who want to contribute, pool the money centrally with my good self.

We then "as a group" will purchase the box off Blade.

That way we all have joint ownership of the server.

Just want to know how much Blade wants for the box.

We have a total of 7 people:

Jason
Adam
Dave (Blade)
Oddbodge
Bluey
Nunzio (maybe)
Pope

I don't expect Sencerd to contribute as he's hosting the box.

So Dave, think of a number and divide it by 7, and I'll round up the dolla (assuming your not taking the piss :) )

Which OS do people intend to run ?

Any service restrictions etc?  Will box be "behind" a firewall?

lol.... we might have to agree packages etc, as many services can't not run on the same port etc...

IE box can only run one MTA on port 25 etc.....

I think the server should be limited to "gaming related software only" - so teamspeak & game servers - no other services or applications.

I don't want to be in a situation where we use up bandwith with hosting web or ftp sites etc etc.

Otherwise it'll cause arugements when "other" software inhibits the performance of gaming software, or the server could get pulled for excessive bandwith.

We will have Windows 2003 Server installed - Which I will be paying for personally.

Yes, we have to have a legit version as it's being hosted at a "proper" ISP.

I don't want to sound like a little hitler, but I want to ask you not to mess with the operating system.  "too many cocks spoil the brothel" etc.

I really only want you to play with the game servers & teamspeak - and you will all have full rights to these services.

I'm not sure if Sencerd is providing a firewall at his hosts end - but I will certainly be putting something up - again only ports needed for "gaming applications" will be open.

As an admin, I ask that you do not allow third parties access to the server - you and only you are to admin the box.

If that's a problem, please shout now!

I can setup the router to block all ports bar the ones needed for games/vnc etc, would save using resources for a software FW

i think common sense should do it.

however, the other members of the group should retain the right to "buy out" any members it feels are not acting properly.
