LANSE Dedicated WWW server - Help needed
« on: August 03, 2005, 02:03:33 PM »
Hi Guys,

Bit of a long story short. I don't think the old LANSE server will be up for grabs from KEME at a good price.

I'd like to get a server up & running as quickly as possible - to try and jump-start the on-line community back into life again.

The problem is I can't afford to buy a new shiny box off  the shelf.

As Sencerd has kindly agreed to host the server on his work's connection, we only have to provide the hardware.

I'm aiming to spec the machine as follows:

XP3000
1 gig DDR
10/100 nic
40 gig 7400 IDE133 disk
Pants video card
Motherboard to fit in:
Micro ATX case
400 Watt PSU

Unfortunately I'm skint at the mo and can't afford to buy it outright.

I know we used to charge a person

cheers for that Blade

what can the board take upto?

i'd ideally want to put in 2500 or faster?

Perhaps sencerd isn't too fussy over size?

I think Blads's box with odd's cpu we have a winner.

If the rest of us can find some memory and a disk we are away!

I'm fairly sure Odd's CPU will fit?
